Directions
Your hike starts in the center of the village in front of the Schützenhalle. There is a parking lot with an overview map. Your signpost is W3. First follow the main road for another hundred meters, then turn left into "Bainkhauser Weg" and after fifty meters turn right into the street "In der Weist". Follow this road until you reach the "Broich" estate. Walk uphill across the farm into the forest and after 2.5 km you will reach the Mettmecketal. Here at the Wetterpilz you have the option of walking an extra 1.8 km along the forest sculpture trail/ forest adventure trail, which is marked W1 . There are 12 stations with carvings and all kinds of interesting facts to discover. It's not just interesting for children! The Westenfeld Way of the Cross with the seven "footfalls", one of the oldest forms of the Way of the Cross, takes you back down to the village and back to the starting point.

Getting there
1) From Dortmund / Münster via the A 44 Dortmund - Kassel to the Werl junction, then A 445 towards Arnsberg to the Hüsten / Sundern exit, via the B 229 Hachen, then towards Sundern. In Sundern, head towards Freienohl and Westenfeld 2
) From Kassel via the A 44 Kassel - Dortmund to the Werl junction, then continue as described under variant 1.
3) From Cologne via the A 4 Cologne - Olpe to the Olpe junction, take the A 45 Dortmund - Frankfurt in the direction of Dortmund to the Olpe exit, via Attendorn, Finnentrop, Rönkhausen to Sundern. Continue as
