Finnentrop

The varied nature and landscape of the Sauerland is the driving force behind the colorful diversity in the districts. Not losing touch, but preserving a good piece of tradition with culture and lively customs: A healthy attitude that gives the municipality of Finnentrop and its villages their colorful appearance.

In the middle of the Homert and Ebbegebirge mountain ranges lies the densely wooded vacation community of Finnentrop. Numerous meadow valleys criss-crossed by streams spread out between the heights. Embedded in this picturesque landscape are the villages, some of which are over 900 years old and are characterized by black and white half-timbered houses typical of the region. In addition to peace and relaxation, guests will find all kinds of sights worth seeing. Three historic castles, numerous churches and chapels, old mills and a small local history museum are just a few examples. For those interested in technology, the Alte Mühle and the Knochenmühle in Frettertal are worthwhile destinations. Those who want to relax are in good hands at the FINTO leisure and adventure pool.

More than 300 kilometers of marked hiking trails invite you to get plenty of exercise in the fresh air. Highlights of the hiking trail network are the Finnentrop circular hiking trail and the Sauerland-Höhenflug long-distance hiking trail. Finnentrop, with its railroad station on the Ruhr-Sieg route, is also a particularly attractive starting point for cycling tours, e.g. on the Lenneroute towards Winterberg or the Ruhrgebiet, on the Ruhr-Sieg-Radweg via Attendorn, Olpe to Kirchen an der Sieg or via Eslohe to Meschede an der Ruhr.

Since September 2015, the Lennepark has been the central hub of the municipality. A junction of the three well-known cycle paths SauerlandRadring, Ruhr-Sieg-Radweg and Lenneroute has been created on the former railroad site. In addition to an outdoor fitness park, there is also a large playground for younger children, while adults can relax in the Lokschuppen next door.
