Schalksmühle

Thanks to its varied landscape, the mountain and valley community of Schalksmühle is also ideal for a hiking excursion into nature. Numerous marked hiking trails lead visitors across fields, meadows and through forests. Of particular note here are the two themed hiking trails of the VolmeSchatz, the family-friendly circular trail A3 at the Mesekendahl game reserve, as well as the tour tip "Natur-er & Kulturwandung" between the Rotthausen heights and the popular Glörtalsperre.

The Volmepark in the heart of the municipality is particularly popular with families. The leisure area with its many play options and play equipment offers a special kind of cooling off in the summer months with its water playground. The (ice cream) café in the neighboring center is worth a stop. The Glörpark in the Dahlerbrück district also offers an entertaining leisure area for young and old, including a beach volleyball court.
