Sundern

Each of the villages has its own special charm: Hachen with its castle ruins and Enkhausen lie to the north. Former German President Heinrich Lübke was born here. Langscheid and Amecke can be found in the west, directly on the beautiful, eight-kilometre-long Sorpesee, which is often described as the most beautiful and pristine of all Sauerland-Seen.

In the east of the town, visitors will find the hiking paradise "Altes Testament" with the villages of Hellefeld, Altenhellefeld, Westenfeld, Linnepe and Meinkenbracht. These are all ideal starting points for wonderful hikes. The villages of Stockum, excellently situated in the Sauerland Siebengebirge, Endorf with its magnificent local history museum "Alte Schmitte" and the "Strackenhof", the oldest stone house in the Sauerland region and the old titular town of Allendorf with the "Fickeltünnes Wanderweg" are also located in the southern region, as are Hagen and Wildewiese.

Those who like it active will find their destination in Hagen and Wildewiese. Hagen has excellent mountain bike trails and the alpine slopes in Wildewiese with varying degrees of difficulty are ideal for skiing and snowboarding. The ski slopes are equipped with floodlights, so you can enjoy the slopes until late at night.
