A few minutes' walk north of the Knüppeldamm, which leads the hiker dry-footed across the protected flora and fauna of the Ebbemoore, there is a 250-year-old marker tree on the adjacent Südhangweg below the Nordhelle. The gnarled copper beech served as a border tree marking the boundary of the Herscheid Mark.
