In 1816 the Prussians came to Arnsberg and made it the government town. In order to provide 'adequate' accommodation for the officials from Berlin, the quarter was built under the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III. The construction work was under the supervision of Karl Friedrich von Schinkel.
