The mountain classifications in most races take place on routes with a 10 to 15 percent gradient; in the Tour de France there are mountain classifications with 15 to 20 percent. The "Hirschberg Wall", however, can boast a whopping 33 percent gradient - and is accordingly notorious! In 2017, a national league bike race through the Sauerland took place for the first time in many years; due to its great success, it immediately became an annual institution. The only course location in the district of Soest is Warstein-Hirschberg - and this is particularly due to the Hirschberger Wand, a small lane with the significant name "Berghang".
In the immediate vicinity of the Hirschberg Wall, the picturesque tourist village of Hirschberg boasts well-kept half-timbered houses and no less than five excellent restaurants. Because one thing is clear: cycling makes you hungry.
