The depth of the preserved traces and the large number of adjacent routes indicate the importance of this road, which dates back at least to the High Middle Ages in its origin, but may be even older. To the west of the hollow way bundle there is the rest of a small Landwehr, which served to secure the road.
The remains of the hollow way and the Landwehr are protected as archaeological monuments.
