"Around theLuisenhütte"
The circular hiking trail "Around the Luisenhütte" is a nature-oriented and varied hike for families. Along the 8.8 km long tour, important sights in the Sauerland Rothaargebirge Nature Park await the hiker.
The starting point is the Luisenhütte Wocklum, a completely preserved ironworks with blast furnace and iron foundry that is unique in Germany. The historical ensemble is completed by the Museum of Prehistory and Early History of the city of Balve.
After crossing the charming village of Mellen, you reach the Orlebachtal, which is a protected nature reserve. Here live special animal and plant species such as kingfisher, damselfly or the watercress. Passing Schloss Wocklum, you will finally reach the Balver Höhle, the largest cultural cave in Europe, on the outskirts of Balve.
