Freistuhl Memorial Square
Freistuhls were used - in the name of the king - to enforce the law. This was also the case in Düdinghausen.
The Freistuhl in Düdinghausen was for the 8 Freigrafschaft villages for free peasants and nobles an important court place of the Waldeck counts (count courts). Owners were the Counts of Waldeck for most of the time from 1334 to 1663.
You can learn more about the history of Düdinghausen here on the homepage.
