After two years of corona-related break, it's "Welkom in het Sauerland" again on Saturday and Sunday, February 18 and 19, at the Fiets- en Wandelbeurs in Ghent. "The Fiets- en Wandelbeurs is perfectly suited to market us as a nature-oriented vacation region with offers around the topics of hiking and cycling," explains Robin Daniel, marketing employee at Sauerland Tourism. Above all the large offer pallet of travel offerers over equipment manufacturers up to routistic Destinationen make the special attraction of the fair. "As a visitor, you get the all-round carefree package here and can be wonderfully inspired," Daniel continues. Various other highlights such as lectures, workshops and also a photo competition make the major event in Belgium a popular meeting place for cyclists, hikers and outdoor fans.
Especially since this year Germany is also the theme country of the fair and a special focus is on the nearby destinations in North Rhine-Westphalia. In this context, the tourism association, in cooperation with the German National Tourist Board (GNTB), will also be presenting a specialist lecture highlighting the region's advantages. A look at the guest arrivals and overnight stays for 2022 also shows how important the Dutch and Belgian markets are for the Sauerland, where the two neighboring countries are by far the most important foreign target groups.
