It is located in Iserlohn's city forest, on the northern slope of the Fröndenberg and above the Rupenteich pond.
It was named after its owner Heinrich Ballot, who was granted citizenship of the city of Iserlohn on 20.02.1679.
The fountain's current appearance was only created in 1937 on the occasion of Iserlohn's 700th anniversary celebrations.
It features a stone wall with an animal mask and inscription stone as well as a small basin stand in front of it.
The fountain, known in earlier times as the "Juffernspring" (Maiden Fountain), is the site of a popular custom.
It is visited by the citizens of Iserlohn every year on Whit Monday early in the morning, as drinking its water is said to promise good health for the coming year
