#deinsauerland / Neusta POIs / City archive in the "Alte Post"
As a place of "urban memory", the city archive - one of the oldest municipal institutions - documents the history of the city of Iserlohn and its districts.

It continuously takes over documents from the city administration that are of lasting value. The holdings of the town archive, which begin in the 14th century, reflect the development of the town of Iserlohn and its districts in their entirety.

In addition to official documents, estates, company and association documents, newspapers, photographs and other contemporary documents are also collected, organized, archived and evaluated.

In particular, the legacy of the noble House of Letmathe (documents from the 14th century onwards) and of nationally known companies and families should be highlighted. Examples include the Kissing & Möllmann company with worldwide trade relations, including to South America and Eastern Europe, as well as the Löbbecke, Möllmann and Nohl family estates.

The town archive also has literature on local, regional and national history in a reference library.

A series of lectures provides insights into town history topics, and the results of the archive's work are also presented in publications, exhibitions and guided tours.

Interested citizens can view the largely unique archive and collection material in the reading room of the town archive in the "Alte Post".
A microfilm reader is also available.

If the state of preservation of the documents allows, photocopies or your own digital recordings can be made. Documents, photographs and postcards relating to Iserlohn are gladly accepted to expand the archive holdings.

Please make an appointment before visiting the city archive.
