You can stop for a bite to eat at Haus Glörtal and at the (biker) snack bar directly at the Glörtalsperre (Haus Glörtal - 02338 / 874917). The center of Schalksmühle with further gastronomic facilities can be reached in a few minutes by car.

As guests in the forest, we show understanding, respect and correct behavior to ensure the use, protection and recreation of our forest.
The Glörtalsperre walking trail takes visitors all the way around the dam, which is located on the edge of the Oben an der Volme area in the Märkisches Sauerland. The area of the dam is assigned to the towns of Breckerfeld and Halver, as well as the municipality of Schalksmühle. The walking trail runs without any major inclines and offers ideal conditions for a family outing with a baby carriage thanks to its predominantly firm surface. Along the low-barrier circular trail, various themed information boards provide interesting information about the flora and fauna of the Glörtalsperre nature reserve.
Forest sofas and benches invite you to linger and offer beautiful views of the dam.
Starting at the dam wall, we take the path straight ahead, which leads us past the motorcycle parking lots. After a few meters, the path now leads us above the dam past the numerous bathing and sunbathing areas of the Glörtalsperre. Finally, we reach the first big "bend" before the youth hostel comes into view.We follow the path further along the arm of the dam, describing a "U". Now we reach the next side arm and the path leads us a little further away from the water. Again we make a 180° turn before the path runs close to the shore again. From now on, the path leads us back to the dam wall, which we now only have to cross. The path is easy to follow in both directions.
Due to the natural but paved route, no special equipment is usually required.
First aid: In an emergency, dial the emergency number 112 and state the rescue point number. Rescue points are access points marked in the forest for rescue vehicles. If the nearest rescue point is not known, your location can be called up directly via AML (Advanced Mobile Location) during the emergency call.
Plan to cool off in the Glörtalsperre dam on warm days. There is a lovely playground for children and exercise equipment for sports enthusiasts.
