Düdinghausen Church
Düdinghausen Church
The starting point of the hike is the church in Düdinghausen. The Sauerland-Höhenflug trail runs directly across the church square, which you follow along the information boards and the church to Oberschledorn Straße. The first highlight of the hike awaits you here: the Borghagen quarry, where fossils can be found with a little luck and patience. Follow the road for a few more meters and then turn left onto hiking trail D2. The path now leads through the Osterntal nature reserve. Here, near-natural sections of watercourse alternate with wet meadows, sparse meadow sections and wooded areas. This structurally rich valley provides a habitat for many rare animals and plants. At the end of the valley, leave the D2 hiking trail and take a sharp left onto an unmarked connecting path that leads back towards the church via the Im Riepen road. If you wish, you can end the short walk at the church. If you want to walk further, turn left before the church into Zum Grünewald and after a short time you will reach the Sauerland-Höhenflug. Along the edge of the forest and meadows with a beautiful view back to Düdinghausen, you now follow the Sauerland-Höhenflug, which crosses the Riepenbach stream and reaches a large crossroads with more beautiful views. Now follow the Höhenflug through an old hollow path up to Spitzbubenbusch and on to the magnificent Aussichtspunkt Kalied. However, you leave the Sauerland-Höhenflug here and hike along the Zum Pön road (Rothaarsteig feeder road) to the Pönlüden farm. Here, too, you can enjoy a fantastic view. After the farmstead, keep left again and follow the R1 hiking trail for a few meters. Follow the hiking trail marked with an inverted T back to Düdinghausen. In Düdinghausen, the Heimathaus with the historic Dreggelstobe (open once a week) is definitely worth a visit. This circular hiking trail is completely cleared.
